Is it Okay to Show Account Amounts and Pay Slips?

Is it Okay to Show Account Amounts and Pay Slips?

Talking about finances is often an interesting topic of conversation. Whether it's in a hangout, family gathering, or even in a work environment.

Among these conversations, we are often asked by our colleagues or family "How much is your salary now?" or "Working at company X doesn't pay much?" and other similar questions. I don't know why they ask that question, it could be just because they are curious or they really care and want to know.

Recently, there has also been a buzz on social media about young people showing the amount of their savings.

The problem is, showing the amount of our savings or income to others is often considered bad form. Many people consider questions about salary or income to be impolite, especially considering that one's financial situation is a private matter that should not be shown.

But there are also some people who consider it a normal thing, and not a taboo. Especially if we are already close friends, why hide the amount of salary or savings, right?

Different Views on this

With this we can conclude that there are two types of people based on this issue:

1. The group of people who think that the amount of salary is not something that should be covered, and

2. The group of people who think the nominal salary is privacy and should be covered.

Each opinion certainly has its own reasons and arguments.

The first group that thinks the amount of salary is not something that should be kept secret: they say that financial situation is not something that should be covered up.

There are some positives to showing our salary to others, especially to our closest ones, for example:

- If the amount of salary is large, it can be a motivation for those who are still earning a small salary.

- If the nominal salary is small, then his family/friends will provide assistance so that he can increase his income

- When we are asked about our salary especially by people who care about us, if we don't want to answer it, it will lead to unfounded bad assumptions.

- On the other hand, there is a group that says that the amount of salary is private. Salary is like aurat, it should be covered up tightly. They also have their own arguments:

- If the salary amount is large, it will give the impression of showing off and open space for hasad.

- If the amount is small, it makes us feel inferior, or even become the talk of family and neighbors because we are considered unsuccessful.

- Showing the nominal salary also makes people compare their salary with other people's salaries. Why does he earn more, when I work more, and so on.

Then, can we show the nominal amount of our salary?

From the explanation above, we can know that there are pros and cons regarding this matter. Both also have their own arguments.

On social media we can see how many influencers are considered to be showing off their wealth, even some time ago it was busy about artists showing off the contents of their ATMs.

So are they wrong? There could be many people out there who end up being motivated and trying hard to get a similar amount of money.

On the other hand, it can also foster envy and jealousy, especially to the point of justifying all means for greater income or savings.

Differences of opinion are normal. It's just a matter of how we react to it. Can we respect people who disagree with us?

Please consider it for yourself. Also look at the conditions of our environment, are the people we tell the nominal salary can be trusted? Can showing our salary or savings really provide benefits? Or does it have the potential to cause problems?

Everyone has their own situation, conditions, and thoughts, it can't always be equalized. Respect their opinions, because mutual respect is beautiful.
