Recently, a lot of people have started talking about quarter-life crisis. Many 'adults' who are a quarter of a century old aka around the age of 20 are going through their crisis period.
They start to feel lost, not understanding why they are alive. They are also worried about the future, but at the moment they can't do anything about it.
On average, in their twenties, especially at 25 years old, they have started working. Although they are already working, most of them are still groping: do they love their job? Is this the career they want? Is this the career that is destined for them?
Quarter-life crisis can happen because many people after graduating from college, still don't know what they want to be, as long as they get a job and don't become unemployed.
Or even if they have decided what they want to be, the reality of working in their dream company is not easy. In the end, instead of being unemployed, it's better to work anything, as long as it's halal.
In fact, at that time they were also required to start being independent, live using their income and no longer depend on their parents. The professional world is also not as beautiful as they imagined.
Especially during a pandemic like this. Never mind thinking about a dream job, just being able to get a job is grateful. In the end, they put aside their passion, throw away their idealism, and prefer to live reality as it is.
Everyone has their own choices. They have the right to determine their path in life.
I don't know what happened, some time ago there was a lot of content discussing 'What have you got at 25?', which led to comparing each other's achievements at the age of 25.
Coupled with the rise of social media during the pandemic, it's easier for viral things to rise to the surface.
The problem is, most people at the age of 25 don't have much savings. Just imagine, graduating high school at 17-18 years old, then graduating college at 21-22 years old.
If someone is currently 25 years old, it means that at least he has only been working for about 3-4 years. And that's not even counting the gap year, or being unemployed, which makes them have to postpone their career journey for a while.
On the other hand, people who show off on social media are already 'successful' at the age of 25. Some are successful in business, some already own houses and cars, have savings of 100 million rupiahs, and so on.
This makes many people feel insecure; how come I'm 25 years old and still doing this?
From the start, what's wrong is comparing ourselves to others. Everyone has their own story, and their struggles, which cannot be compared to others.
It's just that what is shown on social media is only their success. We never know what they've worked for all this time.
Remember Colonel Sanders? The owner of the worldwide KFC chicken outlet. He only started his successful career in the world of fried chicken at the age of 40.
He just started to succeed at the age of 40, when are we still 25 years old and already inferior? We still have a long way to go.
Instead of being confused by other people's success on social media, and instead end up insecure, it's better to focus on the positive things we can do now.
Learn basic skills, such as socializing, money management, public speaking, etc. Enjoy the process one step at a time.
Enjoy the process step by step. Just believe we will be successful one day.
Don't just get hung up on the nominal savings and assets owned by others. Because in fact, success is not only measured by the material collected.
The most important thing is how we can have a positive impact on society, with our knowledge, our energy, and so on.
We will share a few tips so that we don't feel inferior, let alone depressed.
